![]() Here are some examples of negative thoughts: There are many kinds of negative thoughts, and if you learn how to recognize them, it will easier to diminish them and the impact they have upon you. And they are also a problem that can be improved with treatment. In other words, rumination and worry are both symptoms of anxiety. More than that, they often occur together in the same person. They both involve having intrusive, repetitive, prolonged and uncontrollable thoughts about future or past experiences. Worry and rumination are different, but they are also similar in that they are both form of repetitive thoughts that are unproductive. Rumination has been seen as more of a symptom of depression, but it also occurs in anxiety. In rumination, you might think over and over again about how badly you played in that last tennis match or how badly you feel about ignoring someone at the opera last night. It typically involves thinking about how you were not as good at something as you would like to be. Rumination is slightly different and is characterized as having negative thoughts about something that happened in the past. But it definitely occurs in depression as well. For decades now, science has seen worry as a symptom of anxiety. Or you might worry about whether or not the shortness of breath you are experiencing is a sign of heart disease. You might worry about what will happen the next time you see that person you are interested in dating. Worry is defined as having recurring thoughts that create apprehension within you and an expectation that surely something negative will occur in the future. Science has recognized two different forms of repetitive negative thoughts: rumination and worry. ![]() Recurring negative thoughts can be a symptom of both anxiety and depressive disorders. We all have negative thoughts sometime, but when they cycle through your mind over and over again, they can cause problems and they can be a sign that you have a more fundamental problem for which you need to seek help.

![]() The press coverage and popularity were unexpected, and we had no idea we were part of a nascent meme. What is the weirdest thing that has come from owning/running such a unique-not-really-having-a-purpose site? The coronavirus situation might throw a wrench into our plans. Also, fun fact: we’re getting married this May. Since then, I started a PhD in Electrical Engineering (Kyle was already in his first year of a math PhD), and we’re both close to graduating. How long ago did you launch the site / what are you working on now? Either infinite.horse was already taken or too expensive, so I brainstormed some alternatives and polled other attendees for which sounded best. The scrolling code was a quick hack by Kyle using an infinite scroll library by Facebook – the best part is how legs.html works.Īt the hackathon some of the sponsors gave coupons for discounts on domain registration and hosting. In 2015 we participated in the “Stupid Shit No One Needs & Terrible Ideas Hackathon”, which was organized by some friends of ours, so the time to make infinite.horse was nigh (or neigh, if you prefer). I joked about creating a website called infinite.horse. The idea of an infinite horse came to me in 2014, when I first heard that. What I learned is that people like useless stuff and that people are willing to hang posters of useless stuff on their walls. People that purchased the poster got a free link to, the digital version of the poster. ![]() I talked about this with my friend and graphic designer Anthony Burrill and he suggested to make a poster instead. I got a lot of questions from people asking me if I was working on a CMYK version but Cyan Magenta Yellow and Black are colours used for print, they do not come across on screens. is a homage to RGB (Red, Green, Blue) the colours used by screens to show us the internet. Was there anything surprising you learned while building rrrgggbbb? She was asking me to recreate the same thing but she wanted me to replace RGB with her first name. The site hes been incredibly popular (mainly because of it being featured on The Useless Web), but out of the millions of visitors, there was only one person ever emailed me. What is the weirdest thing that has come from owning & running such a “unique not really having a purpose” site? Long enough to stand out, short enough to remember. I wanted the domain to visually mimic the sound of the site so I settled for. Once I had figured out that I wanted to make a homage to the colours red green and blue, the domain and the code came simultaneously. ![]() What came first, the domain or the code & settle on the domain? What started as a useless design became a useless website. After designing it I thought that it would be nice to add some animation to the letters and then, for the full immersive experience, I asked Rimer London to create the sound. It all started with a spontaneous design that I made for the RGB letters. Initially I didn’t have the intention to create a site. What were the circumstances behind creating your site? ![]()
![]() If you attempt to update pirated software, it might stop working. This means they can malfunction and compromise your security. Cracked VPN software do not receive updates. VPN providers regularly release updates for their software to fix bugs and protect against security vulnerabilities. Adware can slow down your system, and you could end up on malicious websites if you accidentally click on certain ads. You’ll see annoying pop-ups everywhere, and there’s no easy way to get rid of them. While it’s generally less dangerous, adware can be a nuisance.Īdware is a type of malicious program that floods your computer or mobile device with ads. If you’re lucky and don’t download some pesky virus or ransomware, you could still run into other kinds of malware, like adware. Ransomware locks all your files, and you’ll need to pay a lot of money to access them. What’s more, you could unknowingly download ransomware onto your system. Even the best antivirus software might not detect all types of viruses and threats. It can be difficult to get rid of some malware. When you download a pirated copy of a VPN from a random webpage or anonymous server, you could be downloading dangerous malware. We highlight some of the dangers associated with cracked VPNs below. ![]() Even if they seem to work fine, you may be exposing yourself to risks. These pirated apps can cause serious damage to your device and your online privacy. In fact, in some cases, using a cracked VPN is worse than using no VPN at all. While a cracked VPN might help you browse the web anonymously and access geo-restricted content, it’s not worth the risks. Apart from the threat to your security and privacy, a cracked VPN is pirated software, and using one could land you in trouble with the law. Yes, cracked VPNs may work, but there are many risks involved in using them. Moreover, Surfshark’s 30-day money-back guarantee means you can try it for a month and get your money back if you decide it’s not for you! Some of our top-rated VPNs, like Surfshark, cost only a few dollars a month and will give you better protection than a cracked VPN. You don’t need to spend a lot of money to stay safe online. So, don’t be fooled: always buy VPN subscriptions directly from the provider. These offers might seem attractive, but they are usually stolen VPN accounts from premium users with weak passwords. There are also unscrupulous vendors on dark web marketplaces selling premium VPN subscriptions at slashed prices. And, while they may seem to function just like a regular VPN, using a cracked VPN can end up costing you much more in the long term. You may come across cracked VPNs on random websites, forums, and social media. Moreover, using a cracked VPN can be extremely dangerous as it may contain malware that can infect your device, steal your private data, and pose other threats. While purveyors of cracked VPNs may go to great lengths to make them appear legitimate, they are fake and unlawful. You can download cracked VPNs for free or cheap from certain websites. Hackers use various techniques to create cracked VPNs, including tampering with the VPN client. There are cracked versions of most top VPNs, like ExpressVPN, NordVPN, and CyberGhost. The engineer required 6x12 "rafters" and doubled up 2x8x14 perlins. When I added on, I wanted the perlins to span 14' instead of 12'. I attached a picture of the 4x12 area.Įdit: the angle of the picture makes it hard to tell, but the rafter is anchored to the lower post in the picture and runs up to a similar anchor higher up on the building. I had to build steel stirrups to anchor the rafters to the top of the lower post and the building with 3/4" bolts. I cut my 4x12 rafters out of fir on a mill but doubled up 2x12s would have been accepted. I also had to sheet it with 7/16 OSB before installing the steel panels. I had to use 4x12 "rafters" to span 12' and 2x8x12 perlins. I live in Idaho and the wing on each side of my engineered pole barn is framed like the OP is showing. Use a simpsion strong tie VPA clip to hold it down to the plates, stronger then birdmouth/toenail. No birds mouth needed either, you use a 2x10 on the inner plate of the outer poles of the lean to, and a 2x8 on the outer plate slide up to the bottom of the rafters after they have been placed. Third, Why would you need a ledger? You place it on the outer truss support/plate of the existing barn. My lean too is made like kinglake showed with 2x4's instead of osb/ply. Also did you down size the "purlins" for 24" rafter spacing? You wouldn't need purlins at all, you could even get away with 1x4's, more to stabilize the rafters than provide support for the roofing with a 24" spacing on the rafters. Third, you calculated 45 percent better cost, but you didn't know the rafter size(you assumed), It would have to be high grade wood as well which would be special ordered(i saw no mention to the grade of wood your wanting to use) and expensive. I have not seen a building here after the 80's built like you have shown, very few of the 70's barns were either. They have much less stringent design loads then. I would guess they method you have drawn was on an old 50's/60's pole buildings. Rafters on 24" centers would work well however. This would be in the glue-lam range or LVLs, or a half truss. Second, doing some basic engineering myself, you are no where close to a size of rafter to span 12'8" with an 9'5" oc. The rafter tables have been "pre engineered" as to not needing an engineer to do so. Click to expand.First, What you are asking is going to have to be engineered, by an engineer. ![]() Wolfgang Homola comments that in Helvetica "the weight of the stems of the capitals and the lower case is better balanced" than in its influences. Its 'R' with a curved tail resembles Schelter-Grotesk, another turn-of-the-century sans-serif sold by Haas. The main influence on Helvetica was Akzidenz-Grotesk from Berthold Hoffman's scrapbook of proofs of the design shows careful comparison of test proofs with snippets of Akzidenz-Grotesk. ![]() His goal is to design a new sans serif font that can compete in the Swiss market, as a neutral font that should not be given any additional meaning. The first version of the typeface (which later became known as Helvetica) was created in 1957 by Swiss type designer Max Miedinger. This design appears to use Helvetica or a close imitation. History A 1969 poster by Robert Geisser exemplifying the "Swiss" style of the 1950s and 60s: solid red colour, simple images and neo-grotesque sans-serif type, all in lower case. A feature-length film directed by Gary Hustwit was released in 2007 to coincide with the 50th anniversary of the typeface's introduction in 1957. Originally named Neue Haas Grotesk (New Haas Grotesque), it was rapidly licensed by Linotype and renamed Helvetica in 1960, which in Latin means "Swiss", from Helvetia, capitalising on Switzerland's reputation as a centre of ultra-modern graphic design. Miedinger and Hoffmann set out to create a neutral typeface that had great clarity, had no intrinsic meaning in its form, and could be used on a wide variety of signage. Hoffmann was the president of the Haas Type Foundry, while Miedinger was a freelance graphic designer who had formerly worked as a Haas salesman and designer. Notable features of Helvetica as originally designed include a high x-height, the termination of strokes on horizontal or vertical lines and an unusually tight spacing between letters, which combine to give it a dense, solid appearance.ĭeveloped by the Haas'sche Schriftgiesserei ( Haas Type Foundry) of Münchenstein ( Basel), Switzerland, its release was planned to match a trend: a resurgence of interest in turn-of-the-century "grotesque" sans-serifs among European graphic designers, that also saw the release of Univers by Adrian Frutiger the same year. Over the years, a wide range of variants have been released in different weights, widths, and sizes, as well as matching designs for a range of non-Latin alphabets. Its use became a hallmark of the International Typographic Style that emerged from the work of Swiss designers in the 1950s and 1960s, becoming one of the most popular typefaces of the mid-20th century. Helvetica is a neo-grotesque design, one influenced by the famous 19th-century (1890s) typeface Akzidenz-Grotesk and other German and Swiss designs. Helvetica, also known by its original name Neue Haas Grotesk, is a widely used sans-serif typeface developed in 1957 by Swiss typeface designer Max Miedinger and Eduard Hoffmann. Not to be confused with Helvetia, the national personification of Switzerland. ![]() WaveDivision Holdings, LLC Grande Communications Networks, LLC. A traditional agricultural tool for cutting grass and reaping crops the scythe has taken a much darker symbolism. The Reaper does not “kill” mortals, but merely guides their spirits to the next realm and it is not their place to judge souls or determine what will become of them. Death is a fundamental part of life and it is the Grim Reaper’s duty to claim the souls of the deceased so as to maintain the balance of nature. In truth, however, they are neither evil nor good, merely a force of nature and order. The Grim Reaper has often – falsely – been depicted as an evil spirit that preys on mortals. With this scythe, the Reaper severs the soul’s last ties to life and grants the soul safe passage to the afterlife. Since the 15th century, Death has commonly been perceived to be an animated human skeleton, draped in pitch black robes and carrying a scythe.
